Policies and
Procedures for Handicapping
The MHCC Handicap Committee is responsible for
administering all aspects of the World Handicap System; and ensuring that each
member’s Handicap Index is an accurate reflection of their playing abilities.
·
As a committee, we
shall verify that all acceptable scores are reported for handicap purposes.
·
Ensure that all
recorded scores are readily available for peer review.
·
Perform random
audits, to ensure that rounds are being posted in a timely manner.
·
Review results of
competitions, and take actions, if scores appear out of line.
Handicap Committee Members: Ted Bettwy,
Stephan Estes, Mitch Freko, Michael Holyk, Sean Merlin, Pete Oberto, Tim Riley,
Bob Schulte, Russell Sinco
The Handicap
Committee sets forth the following procedures.
Each Club member shall:
·
Try to make their
best score on every hole, regardless of where the round is played.
·
Post all acceptable
rounds played for peer review.
·
Post scores after
applying any appropriate Equitable Stroke Control adjustments.
·
Post their
score as soon as possible on the day of play, after completion of their round,
and before midnight (local time).
What is an Acceptable Round?
·
If 14 or more holes
are played, post an 18-hole score, using “net par” for holes not played.
·
If 7 to 13 holes
are played, post a 9-hole score, using “net par” for holes not played.
·
If you pick-up on a
hole, post your “most-likely score” for that hole; if you play 2 balls, post
“net par” for that hole.
·
Post all match
play, stroke play, team play, or just rounds with your buddies.
·
If a player is
disqualified from a competition but has an acceptable
round - post a score.
All Acceptable Scores must be posted, using any of the following
methods:
·
Posting computer,
at any course utilizing GHIN Handicap Services.
·
The GHIN mobile
app.
·
The GHIN.com
website.
·
Returning your scorecard,
after a Tournament, to the Pro Shop or a Tournament Committee.
A Member’s Handicap Index should represent the player’s potential
playing ability. Violations may result in a Warning being issued to the player, or the
issuance of a Penalty Round, or other actions that the Handicap Committee deems
fair and equitable. The Handicap
Committee has the ultimate authority and obligation to adjust a Handicap Index,
under any circumstances that it feels is necessary to do so, including such situations
as:
·
Failure to post all
rounds played in a timely manner;
·
Manipulation of
scores to influence Handicap Index;
·
Improving too fast
for the GHIN Handicap to catch up;
·
Or, consistently
playing better in Competition Events than in everyday play.
