TEAMPLAY QUALIFYING, ELIGIBILITY AND STRUCTURE GUIDELINES
Desert Team
Background
Mission Hills Country Club (MHCC) and Mission
Hills Men s Golf Association (MHMGA) sponsors the Desert Team. The Desert
Team plays 6 matches at other League Clubs and never at home.
The 2026 season matches will be held as
follows:
JANUARY 5TH: MISSION HILLS VS MOUNTAIN VISTA AT INDIAN WELLS CC
JANUARY 22ND MISSION HILLS VS THE SPRINGS AT BERMUDA DUNES CC
FEBRUARY 4TH MISSION HILLS VS HERITAGE PALMS AT MOUNTAIN VIEW CC
FEBRUARY 16TH MISSION HILLS VS PALM VALLEY AT MONTEREY CC
MARCH 3RD MISSION HILLS VS PGA WEST AT HERITAGE PALMS
APRIL 1ST MISSION HILLS VS MONTEREY AT THE LAKES CC
On March 5th, Mission Hills will be hosting 6 teams.

Purpose of Guidelines
Both MHCC and the MHMGA encourage team play
participation and usually a large number of members
are involved. These guidelines are provided to establish some structure to the
team qualifying and selection process both to maximize member participation and
to provide the team captains with the needed flexibility to effectively
compete.
Eligibility
You must be a member in good standing of MHCC.
All players must be amateurs.
Players must have an active GHIN. A player
must have 10 actual rounds recorded prior to League participation.
Team Requirements
Player crossover between teams during the
season is only allowed in an emergency and must be coordinated
by the team captains.
Should a player quit a team for reasons other
than medical that player would not be eligible for
team play the subsequent year.
Qualifying
We have open Qualifying Dates from Nov 1
through December 6, 2024. Qualifying rounds can be made on any day and at
any time on any of the 3 MHCC courses from the White Tees.
Each player must submit two qualifying scores
(par points) and no more than three qualifying rounds. The two best qualifying
rounds will count as the qualifying total for ranking purposes. When submitting
your qualifying rounds, please include on your scorecard your index that
morning, the date played, and Desert Team. A player should have two other
players sign their scorecards.
The Desert Team will have 12 players that do
not have to qualify. Those that do not have to qualify are the team captain,
co-captain, previous year MVP, immediate past captain and 2 captains
picks. In addition 6 players from the
previous years roster
who had the highest average achievement points will not have to qualify. All
play shall be from White Tees. Your handicap for qualifying will be you current index. The maximum index that may be used
for qualifying is 18.0 with a maximum course handicap of 18.
Scoring for qualifying will be par points or
the Stableford format.
Player Responsibility
Should you qualify and be assigned to the team
of your choice, you are responsible for certain costs. If you are on the Desert
Team your cost for each date played is $125, which covers the cost of your meal
and beverages at the host club. In addition you
will be responsible for purchasing a team shirt for approximately $75. All
costs will be charged to your Mission Hills member number.
For each match you are expected to attend
the post match meal.
Matches
The team captain is totally responsible for
selecting the weekly team participants.
Each league has a maximum index for
participation in a league match. The Desert League has a requirement of maximum
index of 18.0 and maximum handicap of 18. Should you qualify for a particular team and your index is higher than the leagues allowed index
you must play your matches to the lower index.
